Note- I originally thought this was Augusta Almquist not Celia- I have revised the post to reflect Grandma Wilson’s ID of Celia.<\/em><\/p>\n

Alfrieda (Munter) Almquist is on the left in the black coat. \u00a0She is 65 years old here. Gus Almquist, 71, is in the middle. \u00a0And to the right is Celia (Girton) Olsen, age 54.<\/p>\n

Today I want to go over a series of photos with a lady I originally did not recognize, who is touring Knott’s Berry Farm with Gus and Alfrieda. \u00a0Grandma Wilson confirmed that this was her mother, visiting and joining the Almquists for a fried chicken dinner at Knott’s, apparently one of their favorite dining spots.<\/p>\n

The picture above has a date stamp on the back of the picture of April 17, 1950, and was taken, as the subsequent images were, at Knott’s Berry Farm, this particular one was in Mrs. Knott’s rose garden.<\/p>\n

Note the crest on Alfrieda’s coat in the photo above, I think it is the\u00a0Swedish Coat of Arms<\/a>!<\/p>\n

Some of you may have seen one image from this trip of Alfrieda and Gus in an oxen wagon cut-out. At some point I’ll try and get my hands on a copy to add to this set, at least digitally.<\/p>\n

I’m thinking Gus must have liked the idea of the concrete and bottle house. Did you check out his stylin’ acorn tie?<\/p>\n

Knott’s was a berry stand<\/a>\u00a0in the 1920’s, followed by a fried chicken and boysenberry pie restaurant in 1934 (yummm). \u00a0The ghost town was started in 1940, so it had been around for 10 years by the time of these photos. Disneyland would open up down the road, a little over five years after these were taken.<\/p>\n
