Freda (15) Mystery wedding girl Blanche (17)
In this post I’m sharing a wedding photo. The two people I know are Gus Almquist on the left and Alfrieda Almquist next to him. After that is a mystery Almquist daughter, who appears to be around 22-27 years old. Above I’ve shown my original two closest guesses, Freda and Blanche side to side with a close up of the mystery girl.
Blanche and Freda were both single on the 1930 census and married by Christmas 1931 as seen in the Riverside county news: 1931 banta and howard married to freda and Blanche.
If this is Blanche then the fellow to the right of her is Howard Johnson (born in 1904 in California), and his parents Samuel (born about 1867 in Denmark) and Gerda (born about 1867 in Sweden).
According to Cathy Beatty this is not Freda who went on to marry her great-uncle Banta Beatty (born 1905 in California), his parents were Frank Beatty (born in 1866 in Allendale, Michigan) and Martha Ann Banta (born in 1870 in Iowa).
Both the Beatty and the Johnson families lived in California, in the Perris area, for at least 20 years before this picture. The ages of the groom’s parents match both Banta or Howard’s families.
So based on Cathy’s input my best guess is that this was Blanche’s wedding, taken around 1931, in Perris, California, perhaps in the Almquists’ back yard.
Thanks Cathy!
Hi: It’s not Freda, Banta nor Banta’s parents: Frank (actually no middle initial, someone mistakenly picked that up & ran with it on Ancestry, the 2 Franks are referred to as Jr and Sr, but technically they weren’t,only Frank’s son was Frank Michael) and Martha. Did the Almquists marry into the Anderson family that lived in Perris during that time? Good blog by the way. Cathy Beatty.
