Hi there, have you all gotten your model trains out for Christmas? I’ve got my Disneyland Monorail, Red Car Trolley, and my Grandfather Albert Johnson’s Lionel laid out.

I thought I’d post some inspiration, from July 1962.  This picture is of what I assume is somehow part of Dave Almquist’s 11th birthday present.  My grandfather, Clarence, may have been secretly buying this for himself, as he continued to set up trains his whole life.

The last one I remember him having was an N scale set called the Golden Eagle.  He bought it in 1980 and let us grand kids play with it, sometimes :).

The trains above are HO scale.  Do you spy the boat carrier?  How about that retro looking bullet train?
