One of my earliest posts was on this picture. It wasn’t labeled and I didn’t recognize the folks in front of the house. Luckily two cousins from Sweden have confirmed that this is indeed the house that Joanna and Klas Petter Almquist owned in Rampekärr, Sweden. Roland Karlbom, descendant of Ada, Gustav’s sister, and Christiana Högberg also a descendant of Ada, both confirmed it for me (you can see their comments here). That confirmation leads me to believe that the people in the photo from right to left, are Joanna, Klas Petter (my great-great grandparents), and their daughters, Ada (confirmed by Roland) and probably Tekla (who died September, 1910) and Selma (who died in August, 1915). I don’t know what they died of. Roland thinks the picture is from around 1910. That would make this picture sometime before September 1910 and sometime after 1901 when Gustav and Augusta (1902) left for the United States.
Christiana has also sent me copies of family pictures and correspondence, many to do with Augusta (Gustav’s sister who lived in Los Angeles). She even had a copy of this photo! Even more exciting are close up pictures of Joanna and Klas Petter, the first I’ve ever seen!
Klas and Johanna are the older couple. The ladies in the picture are probably Tekla, Selma (daughters of Klas and Johanna) and the wives of their sons Johan and Karl whose names I don’t know. Also, I don’t know if Ada and her children are in this picture? If it is Tekla and Selma this picture again would be prior to September 1910.
Christiana also sent a portrait of Klas and Johanna, it looks to have been taken some time after the one above, but sometime before 1921 when Klas passed away.
Christiana sent these a few weeks ago, and my aunt Caron has sent more, I’ll be trying to catch up with all of your generous contributions over the next month!
